Customer data is only useful if it changes a decision
At Facebook, my work connected customer understanding to commercial action. The result contributed to $■■■ million in additional agency sales.
The question behind the analysis
My work at Facebook spanned product growth and analytics. One part of that work was connecting customer understanding to commercial decisions. The useful question was where the team should focus its effort, and what evidence would help it choose.
My contribution
I worked across functions to turn analysis into action. The work contributed to $■■■ million in additional agency sales. What interests me about it is the connection between understanding customers and changing what a team actually does.
What I take into other businesses
I start with the decision a team needs to make, then work backwards to the evidence that would help. More data does not automatically make the answer clearer. Someone needs to establish what matters, connect the relevant information and make it useful to the people taking action.
